Christmas Day 2010

What a blasted miracle and year !! I have been reflecting and looking at what I have accomplished and also where I am today.

I am truly grateful to have ran as much as I have during this year of 2010. There was the Half in Seattle, the 5K in Zumbrota, the Half in Mankato and other shorter runs I am forgetting. There is a year of lessons learned as well as many great memories ( aka: Joining TEAM R.E.D ) !!

If you follow my blog, you will have noticed that I have not blogged for quite some time. I believe that recently, until about a week ago, I was becoming more an more convinced it would be a very long time before I actually ran again. OR wondering what I would be able to do, cardio-wise.

I was diagnosed with Petallar Tendinitis, a while back after I was diagnosed with ITBS in my right leg. As I crossed the finish line from the half in Mankato in Oct., I was in much pain. This pain did not go away after a few weeks. So it was suggested that I go into see a Sports Med Doc.. I did so, first ITBS then a few weeks later, Tendinitis.

I have been in physical therapy ever since I was diagnosed with ITBS.

It has been suggested that I run, not over 5 miles at a time, each day or when it does not hurt. This excites me!!! I am putting in around 2 to 3 miles per day - missed yesterday - since Wed.. So I am very pumped to be getting back into my exercise regimen :O)

I will begin training for a half marathon, which is Feb. 20th. in Austin TX.. I need to remember, for its difficult for me to remember that, for I am definitely the competitive type. Course I am really only in competition with myself -- HA !!

I will begin tracking on here once again, for now I am becoming excited and I need to remember its only mileage for now. The speed work will come in time. I will be a rock star, again ( in my eyes ) == yet in TIME!!

Merry Christmas to you all and to all a good night !!

ITBS

Hello --its been awhile since I have blogged, as I have been off of the exercise regimen and onto the healing process.

After I ran the Mankato Half I was feeling alot of pain in the right knee. After two weeks of no running, it still seemed to bother me after going up and down the steps. It was strongly suggested that I go into to see a sports med doc.. So I followed through and I was diagnosed with ITBS and I was referred to a Physical Therapist.

I have seen the PT for 2 wks now and I was able to jog this past weekend. There was pain while jogging and also afterwards. I seen the PT today and he did more ultra sounding on the IT and also some major digging to get the knots out of it and loosen it. I was also given orthos so that I can correct my heels, as they tip in.

I am hoping to get into running, slowly, and without pain.

This is going to take time.

This week I am able to jog with intervals as well continue my stretches and exercises twice per day with 3 reps of them at these times.

I will go back to the PT on Friday for more digging and also a reval. Than we will take it from there.

The full in Austin TX is up in the air, yet, time will only be able to tell.

Well -- thats the facts...now for the feelings... I have been up and down. AS once I was able to actually move my legs and get going a little bit, my mood changed incredibly.

I will do as told for I want to be able to run again, without pain!

I have realized that I completely enjoy running and all the exercises that I am unable to do at this time, yet, I can continue biking and the appropriate exercises in order to maintain my sanity.

Its all about getting better now.

Push on dear friends, push on!!

Nov. 2nd, 2010

As you can see, I have not blogged since I ran the half in 'Kato.

I have been fighting a bit of IT pain. Actually, alot.

I have been told to rest.

This does NOT sit well with me.

Instead :

Beginning yesterday, I am now back at the exercise regimen.

I was able to put some time in on the bike yesterday as well as on the weights. I will be focusing on the bike this week and the weights. Right now it is a week by week basis. As this IT is very painful at this point and if I continue to run I would injure it and it would continue to be painful, forever, I would assume. Suggestions are where its at .. at this point in my life. Which is OK as I have been here before with different experiences in life.

I am going to continue to work on the cardio and core part of my body. This way, if and when this pain subsides, I will be ready to RUN!!!

There is still plans for the full in Feb in TX.

Time will tell with all of that.

On a side note: realizing that I ran the half, PR'd and finished, on an injury boosts my self confidence much more. As Now I know that my time was AMAZING with this in mind !! YAY!!!

Keep on pushin, my dear readers, keep pushin on!!!

ANOTHER PR :O)

Yesterday I ran another half, in Mankato Mn..

Yesterday I completed another half.

Yesterday I PR'd. ( 1:58:50 )

Yesterday I beat myself up mentally for a few miles where I slowed myself down.

Yesterday I seen others accomplish amazing things ( Crossing the finish line, beating the mental walls that we endure while running, challenge themselves to an amazing accomplishment, created different race times, new friendships, closer ties between already had been friends ).

Yesterday I was tired ( woke up at 3:30 to leave Byron at 4:45 to arrive early in Mankato ).

Yesterday my IT Band flaired up.

Yesterday I met new people ( Even cried while one of them held me up and another endured my cussing while I cramped ).

Yesterday was an absolute ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!!

Today -- I have stretched my IT, exercised it, treated it with some TLC and about to give it some bathing in some ice.

Today -- I ENJOYED my accomplisments that I endured yesterday.

Today -- I celebrated by speaking to my good friend OL on the achievements and also on my new goals. ( Full in FEB!!! and time to look for another half )

Today -- I baked!! ( Pumpkin Bread, Choc Chip Cookies, Rice Krispie Bars and I am on my way to get some more ingredients to bake Pumpkin Pie and Banana Bread )

Today -- I am not as tired as yesterday and I am very GRATEFUL that yesterday was a PR an amazing accomplishment in itself, completing another 13.1 miles!!!

Life is GREAT today and I am a very lucky soul to be able to enjoy the life that I have!!!!!!!

New friends, New races, New way of life !!!

Push on Dear friends while I rest my IT band and make sure I am fully recovered for my next training session :O)

* Lesson Learned coming soon *

Oct 22, 2010

Today is Friday !!!!!!

Tomorrow is RACE DAY !!!!!!!!

Last night was a great night with Team R.E.D. I was able to walk briskly with Paul M. and chat about the race and other races we have been involved in :O) It was very refreshing as I had a rough afternoon prior to the group run. So this was just the medicine needed.

We walked around 2.5 miles.

Tomorrow is the RACE !!!! ( oh I said that .. he he he )

I have found out that this week with tapering and resting the legs -- it throws me for a loop ( emotionally/spiritually ). I have trained my body to allow to be preoccupied with vacations and flying out and visiting. This week, I did not have that and it has been very difficult for me. I am learning things during this training for this half :O)

I will do a lesson learned after the race. So in case you wanted to take these with you -- you would be able too.

Today is the day to prep for the race and also plan an outfit and warm/dry items. We have the carpool plan all set and the party afterwards :O)

So its off to do laundry, cleaning and planning.

Dearest Bleaders --

I have been tapering this week for the race is on SATURDAY :O) We are going to KICK Mankato's ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I just did some biking and also a small circuit to allow some bent energy out !!!

I have been having trouble with the knee area and I actually think it is two things combined. IT Band and also a few other muscles. I did tend to it properly, I believe. I have been rolling as well as stretching and exercising the IT bands.

I was beginning to get a little depressed and not realizing how much taking exercise out of my regular regimen was affecting my attitude, I took a trip to the Running Room to see what they thought of my current purchase, new shoes on line !

Well -- turns out -- they are not supportive enough for the amount of running that I submit to my feet during a week. YET -- I have another pair of shoes that have enough support in them to run the race with :O) I thought I would have to walk outta there with a new pair!! I will be purchasing a new pair after the race.

I did walk out with a compression band for the IT, though. I put it on and instantly my knee felt better and then again today it hurt a little in a different spot. So I read the inserts in the band container and I moved the band and it helped :O)

I am very confident I am going to do amazing at the half in Mankato!!! ( I was debating that for a few days there )

I am realizing that exercise is now a part of me and when that is absent, my attitude and moods go down. This is a good thing in my mind!! Means I have done it long enough now, that it is a part of who I am and what I am about. I will continue the healthy way of living that I have now chosen and create a new friends and also maintain and retain all that I have gained thus far !!!

Push on friends, push on!!!!!!!!!!!

Oct. 14th, 2010

It was a late night last night for this momma -- so I am blogging today on the run yesterday.

I was able to get in a 7.5 miler!! I met with Marilee and Bri before Team R.E.D and we ran an extra 2 miles together :O) They are both running the full in Mankato :O)

Angie and I than ran the 5.5 miler. I had to stop us, for my IT Band is really flaring up :O( So .. unfortunately, we were a bit behind everyone. YET, we made it !! AND Angie is DOING amazing!!!!!

We had one other incident while running, it was funny, there was a truck with two men in it, pass us and then turn around. I swear it was nothing, but Angie, totally disagreed. Suppose, if I had to really stop running we could have hitched a ride. HA HA HA

Either way, than it was time for Team R.E.D. and it was nice to sit with everyone. WE had a few good laughs and gave some grief to Mr. Melby -- who sooo needed it!!!

I will debate doing some stuff today, for I need to rest this IT Band so that it is strong for the run on the 23rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet, YOU PUSH ON :O)

Have a GREAT FRIDAY!!

Oct. 12th, 2010

I am soo grateful for my friends!!! I was able to put in a few miles tonight -- after a very long week with a child who'se been down and out with pneumonia.

I ran 6 miles tonight, with some strong miles in the middle :O) Working more on miles now than the speed work -- missed some miles the past few weeks. Have to try to get em in this week, if I am able to run the 23rd in Mankato.

Heres the splits:

9:28 - 9:42 - 8:40 - 8:14 - 8:07 - 8:49

Felt damn good too!! I would have been able to hold the last mile for quite awhile, felt it in my body!! It was like I was just going with the wind.

Its a tiring week...already.

Off I go to prepare for some rest.

Push on dear friends, push on!!

10/10/10

Hello

Today, after a VERY long week, I was able to put in a 10 miler. I had to request some help to do and I was unfortunate not to be able to attend the breakfast yesterday morning!!

My youngest child has been sick since Wed. of last week. We will go in tomorrow for more testing with the doctors. I am hoping that they find what is bothering him and get it taken care of.

That would be the reason I have not been blogging or running. My children differently take president over running, as well as, I am a single parent so that also puts things into perspective!! I was able, too, however grab a break today and get my long run in. Well, a long one, not as long as I would have like.

It was an amazing RUN!! I felt around 7 miles, I could go on all night long. Running into the sunset and just enjoying the beautiful outdoors!!! LOVED IT!!

Of course, I am stubborn and insisted on wearing NEW shoes -- low an behold -- I have a blood blister on my toe. Yet, the shoes FELT awesome !! GREAT cushion!!! YAY!!

I also am in pain, the outside of my right knee. Off to roll that and also stretch it an exercise it. The issue, I believe, to long between runs and also lack of strengthening. Its OK -- work work work!! Which is all worth it !!

I have to sign off and get some shut eye, for it could be a really LONG day tomorrow. Wish us luck and if you pray, please send a few extra for my son!! Hugs to you all

Man that felt AWESOME!!!!!

At first I really was not digging the track, than after about 10 x's around -- it felt amazing!!!! The times were rocking as well :O)

I am getting geared up for Mankato !! The more we discuss it and the more I look at my times, I am very excited to blow my PR outta the water !!!

* I have been in my head a little bit and getting on me -- while comparing myself to OTHERS!! This is a BIG NO NO !!! The only one I have to compare me to, is ME !!!!

Heres what I shot for tonight:

400 M 10 x's with 200 M recovery @ 1:50 ( avg's were 1:47 )
800 M 2 x's with 400 M recovery @ 3:50 ( avg's were 3:35 )

I totally blew the times outta the water!!!!

WHOO HOO!!!!

Chello my dearest friends!!

I was able to get out in the beautiful weather, here in SE MN, today !!

I was feeling a bit foggy, as I believe I may be coming down with a bit of a cold. Yet, I need to continue my training, Mankato is creeping up on us!! 3 Wks -- counting down!!

Ran a 5 miler today and I believe that I realized I need new shoes. Ordered !! I love online shopping, easy, fast and sufficient!! I will have these shoes end of the week and I will be able to break them in for the race :O) Than utilize them to train in for a full :O)

There were many that ran this past Sunday in the cities and ROCKED It out !!!! If you finished the race, I figured, you plain ole ROCKED!!!

It is awesome to be able say that I know so many runners, now!!! How cool!!!! There will be many of us running in Mankato as well !!!!!

I will post more info on that race, if you would like to track people!!!

Hopefully you were all able to do more than you ever thought you would this weekend as well!!!

I actually had tears in my eyes on the way to grab the children after my run with Marilee, Quint and OL!!

I completed 15 miles :O)

This is a huge deal for me - you see --I have NEVER ran that far!!!!!!

Not only did I COMPLETE it -- I also had some amazing times :O)

Yup -- I am NOW PUMPED about racing !!!

It was difficult for some of the miles, yet, the majority of it felt awesome!!

It was also GREAT to be able to run with some new people!! They were great company and pulled me when I was tired.....

GRATEFUL I am tonight -- GRATEFUL and I feel ON TOP OF THE WORLD!! " WHATEVER I put in front of me -- I WILL accomplish!!! "

Oct. 1st, 2010

Holy Cow!! ITS October!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( that went too fast!! )

Last night was great!! I was able to meet up with Mr. Woo for a few miles before we all ran as a group and than when we were coming around the corner, there was Marilee running next to Quint while he biked. She than joined us :O)

We met up with the group and, well, I fired Melby. He did NOT have a camera !!! ( J/K on that one Melby ) Low and behold = Renee was there!!!! She had camera in hand. So we took a group pic and then off we went !!

I was running with Angie and her leg was bothering her, so we cut the long run a little bit shorter. Yet, I was able to get in my 6 miles for the night!! What a BEAUTIFUL night to run also!!!

Than we met with the group back at the Den. It was awesome to see Renee again!!! It was also awesome to hear about all the upcoming races that everyone is preparing for!!

GOOD LUCK to all that are running this weekend in the CITIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Than I found some more out on who'se running in Mankato this month as well !!

ALSO -- get this -- I might have some people INTERESTED in coming to TEXAS with me in Feb!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sept 29th, 2010

Good Morning everyone!!!!!

HOW amazing I feel today !!! YAY!!! Resting worked !!

I was able to achieve a track workout last night, 8 miles, while seeing a few friendly faces. It was sooo nice to run fast again and also be able to accomplish it. Of course, I was not as happy with my performance, yet, thats OK. I am coming back into it after a much needed break.

Here is what I ran last night:

One mile warm up
3 x's 800 M with 400 M cool down
10 x's 400 M with 200 M cool down
One mile cool down

Thanks to everyone I seen last night. It was nice to see a familiar face that had some troubles with a hamstring!!

Today - I think I will take it a bit easier and do a circuit with some cross training :O) * Oh and the dog is going to the salon!!

Push on dear friends push on and remember: ANYTHING you put your mind too is POSSIBLE

Sept. 26th, 2010

Dearest readers,

I have been completely buried with work and the bloggin has obviously not been well taken care of.

Let me share with you what was done on Sept. 26th.

I was able to complete 13.5 miles!!!! It was a beautiful long run with some great company!! Sam and Adam from Team R.E.D. joined me for some much welcomed company!!! How great it is to run with others - -not only do we get to know one another on a much deeper level, we also don't realize the time !!!

It started out a bit chilly, yet, I shared with the boys, that it would warm up after a mile or two. I think it was around 40 degrees. Our body temp's will add 20 degrees, after a bit. So I knew we'd be good to go shortly there after!! WE were completely amazed at the 60 degrees weather when we returned to our vehicles!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to run with such amazing people as well as completing a new PR for the longest I have ever ran :O)

My legs are feeling back to normal and I am not as tired/fatigued as I was before after the running. The break has helped tremendously!! Of course, my head really wanted to get down on myself, yet, my body is my temple and I need to care for it!!!! * Plus, if I am burned out OR injured than I will not be able to run AT ALL!!!

Today is track day, my friends!!

PUSH ON PUSH ON!!! ( with caution of course !! )

Hugs to you all

Sept. 21st, 2010

Hello Friends.

Looks like I am a bit behind on blogging!!

I was gone this weekend and I was able to run with my good friend, Sharyce, who is now getting into running !!!! She helped me pull in the last of my long run on Sunday. ( 10 miles )

I was also asked to back off a little bit from the training, as my muscles are sore lately. Supposedly I have been pushing my body a bit much. So, the suggestions were to back off some and rest a little bit. Which you know .. really .. I would rather rest up a little bit than burn out completely and or get injured!! I have along ways to go.. if I am going to try to pull in a half marathon and then a full in Feb..

Today I will hit the hills and then the intense workouts will be over for the week. There will be a few base runs and a long run on Sunday.

I will keep you all posted, of course!! For I need to move forward -- not take steps backwards!!!

Thanks for stopping by today !! Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday!!

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Sept. 15th, 2010

Today was an easy day. Well, it felt difficult, yet it was an easy day.

I was able to run 3 miles with my friend, Tom. That was nice... the muscles and body were a little sore today, I believe its from the track work out last night as well as the miles are definitely increasing for me.

Its OK. I will take a complete 24 hrs off and then do a run, a free 5K, tomorrow evening with Team R.E.D. at the Mayo Open.

I am bit worn out so I am going to close with that for the night.

Put your mind to it and just do it !!

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Sept. 14th, 2010

Holy Hannah !! My feet are not happy with me tonight !!

I was able to take around 40 min for a circuit, including the eliptical for 15 min., for my lunch today. Than I was able to hit the track. WOW!! This is what my workout was, which is considered the ladder:

1 mile warm up
400 M @ 1:50 ( 200 M cool down )
800 M @ 3:45 ( 400 M cool down )
1200 M @ 5:28 ( 800 M cool down )
1600 M @ 7:25 ( 1200 M cool down )
1200 M @ 5:48 ( 800 M cool down )
800 M @ 3:47 ( 400 M cool down )
400 M @ 1:47 ( 200 M cool down )
1 mile cool down

Now that was a workout !! AND I DID IT :O)

Its really funny, once I stop and think about things. You put a schedule in front of me and I just seem to do it. Excuses are really not an option once I have a goal put forth. It seems that I am very goal driven. With my family, friends and not to forget to the most important one: My HP, I can accomplish anything put in front of me to do.

You can TOO !! IF I CAN YOU CAN!!!

Push on dear friends -- push on!!

Monday Sept 13th, 2010

Hello !

Today I ran 5 miles.

* I was only going to write that, but than I realized there was a bit more to it than only the 5 miles. There was the hills that I climbed as well as pushing the last two miles ( 3 to 4 to see if I could hold a good pace that far after running 3 and then the last one hit the last half mile hard, with a hill in there and pulling it in at 6:50 pace ). Course in training I am learning that really I should have spread that energy out into each mile, but today, I had some fuel that just seemed to kick in around that time. Thanks anger for that.

Push on dearest friends, push on !

Sept 12th, 2010

What an absolutely amazing morning for a run :O)

A few us of met in Rochester and ran the Douglas Trail. We took off and then took a small break in Douglas ( water/Gatorade ) and back on the trail. To come in at the end for a total 10 miles :O)

The trail was beautiful to run on and the weather was excellent to run in. It was also very nice to have been joined by Sam and Adam, both Team R.E.D. members. This helped the run go by faster than being there on my own.

Plus, to my surprise, it was both of their first time running this distance :O) They did great for a long run !! We took it slower and easy, as I hit hard last night on the 5K and its been a long week for me.

I will have now completed a total 35.5 miles this week. My body is a doing amazing well, for that many miles, where I would think it would be in shock. And yet, its not. What else I find a bit interesting is that the 5K went by MUCH faster than I am used!! Something is working running all these miles and the harder workouts!!

The hard work pays off :O) It really does, people!!!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, my dearest friends!!

Big Hugs sent out to you all!!

Sept 11, 2010

It was a GREAT day to run a 5K :O)

I was able to join the Chosen One Run in Zumbrota this afternoon. It was very nice company and it was beautiful weather for a run. I was joined by my personal trainer, Sherry Sonneberg, and a friend of ours, Jenny O'Connor.

I am very proud to say that I was able to PR tonight. It was not a huge change in my last PR, yet, it is a PR.

25:15 ( running at an avg. of 8:10 min/mile )

Tonight my body sleeps well, knowing that what I have been training and all the hard work I am applying is paying off!!

* I have had a horrible cold and I am hoping that possibly that added to the time *

IF I CAN YOU CAN!!!

I have a Girl Friend, Sharyce, who ran her first 5K this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its absolutely amazing to see how she progressed and achieved. Congratulations!!!

Good night Dearest Friends -- Good night !

Friday, September 10, 2010

Finally Friday :O)

I have to say that I am pretty much stoked that it is the weekend!!!!! So excited, I have decided to put in a 5K on Saturday ( Adoption run in Zumbrota ) and a 10 miler on Sunday :O) Today is a rest day for me and my temple ( body ).

Yesterday, I was unable to blog as it was a VERY busy day !!!!! Yet, amongst the chaos and commotion, I was able to grab Ang and take her with me to Team R.E.D. and run a nice 5 miler!! Than we ended up at the Bears Den to eat a lil bit.

Life is good today. To be able to look at where I am, feel the pain and to know that it is all paying off!!! In the end -- I feel a completely solid soul when I lay my head to sleep at night!!!!

Have a great Friday my dearest readers!!!

Push on -- there is NO limit you can NOT reach!! ( JUST DO IT )

Sept 8th, 2010

Well, my dearest friends, I am plum wore out!! I think I have a bit of congestion going on -- which has wore me out and not given my lungs the right capacity for the air I needed to hit my 400 M's hard tonight.

I was able to run with Sherry today, which was amazing!! We put in 7 miles !! That was so nice to run with her again and its also, as always, nice to get in my miles with someone else!! They go by soo much faster that way.

I was unable to do track work yesterday, so I hit the track today!! I completed 16 400 M's with 200 M recoveries!! Not my best work -- yet -- I did hit the 1:50 mark each time :O) I am proud tonight!!

Its really amazing -- once you get on a track and you feel the need to RUN!! Never thought it would be that way, yet, it is now.

Till tomorrow !! Looking at around 9 split up -- hills/group run with the Team !!!! Yay !!

Push on my friends, push on!!

Sept 7th, 2010

The day I send off my eldest to 2nd grade. We are all out to do different things in our daily lives. My life with my running/exercise is out to help myself along with my children's.

I told a friend today who was throwing all these excuses at me: If you are NOT in good standings you can not be for your children either !! YOU NEED TO TAKE care of you!!!! YOUR #1!! Than you can maintain a great attitude and a great healthy lifestyle with them and for them !!!! OK -- enuff on that one.

I went to a few parties over the weekend and I had nothing but compliments thrown at me !! It was AWESOME !!! How did you do that Lori?? YOU look amazing -- I simply said: I RUN!!! :O) Of course, I had to tell them a lil bit more, cuz thats how I am !! I TALK!! It was awesome to hear!! Working hard pays off in SO many ways!!!

Last week -- on Friday -- since I didnt repost anything, I had a good friend do a GREAT favor for me!!!

I got asked if I wanted a ride to Kasson, I said for what ? He replied: To run back to Byron. You would have a tail wind. It was a suppose to be a 6 mile run -- yet -- I decided to add a few more miles to make it an 8 miler!!! IT ROCKED!!!!! Got in my miles and also a great workout!! Thanks OL!!!

Off to get some more work done and then I think I am going to log in a short run for today as well as a good circuit to work off the stress from work !!!

Push on my friends, PUSH ON!!!

* Hope you all had a GREAT weekend !!!

Sept 1, 2010

Today seems to be a glum day -- again -- I did not get my track work in last night and I am hoping to pick it up today. Somewhere, it seems to be a very busy day today for I have open house for my eldest child today. That would be priority, as well as making sure that I get my work all taken care of before I leave for the open house.

Yesterday, I was able to squeeze in a good workout. I have a new set of exercises from my trainer ( Sherry Sonneberg) and added some cross training in. I put in a 20 min regimen on the elliptical, also. I will beef up those minutes on the Friday, when I redo this set of exercise.

I am lacking my moto this week, hoping to get in a track workout today and pick it back up.

I am trying to grasp all positive and good energy for today and to move forward.

Push on my dearest friends, push on!!

Hoping that all is well with all of you this fabulous day!! Upon us is the weekend, which means rest and relaxation.

I was able to meet with my trainer last night, after a wonderful run with Team R.E.D. ! We were able to pull in 6 miles and it felt amazing, after I did it, of course. For there were some hills I really didnt like -- yet -- held strong through them and followed everyone!

The meeting with Sherry, my trainer, was amazing !! My measurements were DOWN again :O) YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My weight is also down, yet, thats not so much of a concern any longer. The inches coming off is what really excites me.

We spoke of a new plan for my strength training and also some routines to throw in with the running. This will allow for me to become stronger, while learning how to run fast. As well as, making darn sure that my body does not fail me during all this exercise :O) Its important for me to take care of my body as though its a temple!!!

I am very excited for the next few months, while training for a half an also working my muscles!!! LIFE IS GREAT!!!! AND its getting BETTER!!!!!!

Push on dear friends, push on!!!

* Have a great, relaxing and fun weekend!! Hugs to you

August 26th, 2010

Today was a good day !!! I am feeling a bit gloomy, so I didnt know if I could pull off the hills today, yet, I surprised myself!!

4 miles and 9 hill repeats, pushing up them at 7:50 to 8:30 pace each :O) I think that pretty darn good considering !!! This brings me to 22.75 mi for the wk thus far an tonight is Team R.E.D.!!! That will be another 6 mi to add.

I am considering doing a 5K this weekend, which has been undecided as of yet. I will for surely be doing a long run -- thinking around 10. This will begin the long runs and keep the other at a base of 6 mi. My longest run this fall will be 15 miles an then I will complete a half marathon and pull it into a full marathon training schedule.

Tonight I also meet with my personal trainer !!! Which I am very pumped about, being the state that my body is in and holding !!! I am hoping to see much improvement in the inches :O)

Wish me luck !!

Onward, my friends, onward!!!

Believe in yourself, as if you were believing in someone else!!! YOUR WORTH IT!!!

Hugs to you all

August 25th, in the A.M.

Hello Dear Followers!!!

I am sooo excited for this training to progress!!!

Yesterday, was my first track work out and it ROCKED my world!!!! YAY!!!!

I did 9 sets of 400 Meters with 200 Meters recovery ( thats a total of 1.25 miles of 400 meters ) and I pulled in the sprints with some AMAZING times ( 1:50's ) !!!!!

THAN - to my surprise - I was chatting to another Team R.E.D. member, Roger, while he was doing a recovery and I was just sitting there. So, I said, I will go with you this one -- he was doing 800 meters ( 1/2 mi ). I was going strong with him, he has very long legs, and then came to the 400 and was going to dash off, he said: C'mon Lori!! You can pull it through. I held on. THE TIME was FASTER than my fastest mile : 3:29 = 6:58 MILE :O)

Dang -- I am proud today !!! PROUD I tell you...

All the hard work, determination, motivation, and sweat are paying off !!!

Thursday I will see my Personal Trainer for measurements. Lets see where I am 27 months later!!!

Hello Friends!!

I am happy to note that yesterday, I was able to pull of a short 3.5 mile run, including -- my fastest mile at this time ( 7:08 ) -- during the rain pour that we had for a bit in Byron!!!

I was going to head back when the downpour hit, but than I was determined to send off my pace to my friend so that the speed work could be determined for my training schedule!! Here I am soooo happy that I did so and that I stuck with it!!

I read the watch after I did the mile on the track and I almost fell OVER!! I am very proud of myself for accomplishing this !!

It was a very good running week -- I completed over 29 miles.

Next week, we are BACK on !!

Happy Running my friends, push on -- push on!!

* I also can note that I am down to a size 6 in my pants!! Coming from a size 16 thats AWESOME!! WHOO WHOOP!! Between my HP and my determination and prayers, this is all so possible!!

Hello hello hello --

Well its thursday and I have 24.75 mi to note :O)

It was a great day today !! I did a 3.25 miler of hills and hit em pretty decently. Than I did 6.25 tonight and I was able to run with a new friend, Angie!! It was actually pretty awesome!! It was a long run for her and it FELT amazing to me -- I actually could have kept running !! I think I really felt it after sitting at the Bears Den with the gang ( TEAM R.E.D. ) and a little bit as I blog...yet, it was a GREAT day.

Tomorrow -- I need to run a mile at my fastest pace !! I need to run out to a place where its flat and not alot of traffic, this will help determine my track work ( Speed work ) for my training. I will be running a half in Oct and then a full in Feb I will need to be PREPARED!!!

Shooting for 28 miles this week -- so far so good !!!!

Today was a good day :O)

Hit a 6 miler today -- The wind and the cooler air felt amazing !!!!! I took it easy out there today, for I didnt place any water and I also ran a 5K on Saturday. After PR'ing I figured today was a good day for a recovery run!!!!

I am hoping for some good speed work and hills to put into the training plan this week. Working my way up to around 35 miles per week will be the goal the next week or two. Time to start adding all the mileage one can, for the full in Feb will be here sooner than later and I want to make sure this body is ready to cross that finish will all that it can.

Never did I imagine that I would be interested in running the Boston, yet, the more I hear about it and the experiences one has while there, I am becoming more and more interested. Time will tell.

For today, I am proud of my 'lil 6 miler :O)

Happy Running my friends -- push on, baby, push on!!

Hugs to you

I am very pleased with my time!!!! I almost wished that I hadn't ran with my watch, yet, on the other hand it helped me to stay consistent -- each mile around 8:30 pace :O) I am very proud of myself and my achievement !! For I know the work on puts in to achieve results such as this and I will continue to work harder, for better results. Its really all possible, for NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING is impossible!!

Friday the 13th, August

Good Morning!!!!!!

Wow - What an amazing evening!! It completely rocked my world !!

First - I did a 2.5 miler and a good circuit workout for my noon hour, as I needed to let off some much needed steam from work!!! OOOFTAAA...

Second - I thought twice about not going to Team R.E.D., for the heat/humid was awful!! YET -- I told my children, that since it was at a Hosting home and there were other families and their children were joining everyone that they could as well. Soooo ..since I told my children I would bring them I had to follow through. We went and OMGosh I am sooooooooo happy that I went and joined them!!!! They really are such a fun bunch!!

I started out with the idea of the longest run and ended up with a longer one. HA. I was joined by two individuals, Dave and Steve. That was neat as we were able to get to know one another and help each other through the lil bumps that we would have ( for me anywho == not to sure bout them, as they didnt share them! HA ).

We ended up doing around 7.2 miles!! Thats pretty darn good in that heat index!! We ROCKED!!

Hope you all have a fabulous day !!

Its rest day for this gal -- as tomorrow I am running the 5K in Kasson, Mn at their festival!!

Happy Running my friends, Happy Days!!

August 10th, 2010

Oofta!

How good it feels to be able to do the 3.25 of hills next to Somerby!! Even on a humid day !! That felt soo good -- I did manage to slow it down and not push myself to near death. Yet, I did find myself walking twice, so that the cramping in the tummy did not continue.

I was also able to pull it in and do two sets of circuits.

This is feeling pretty darn tooting good :O)

Still searching for a fall marathon -- I will find one -- just in time. For now I will just work as though there is one out there.

Yesterday I was so kindly reminded of the heat that is upon us and the conditions it may bring. So, to be proactive, I am very well hydrated as well as hydrating again when I return home. Making sure that the body does not go into shock and also not to overdue it.

Saturday morning I will run in Kasson at their festival. I am going to sign up for the 5K. On Thursday, Team RED is meeting in Rochester for a run. It feels pretty amazing to be able to meet fellow runners and make new friends!!!

Life is good.

Live to run another day, my friends.

Happy Running!!

August 9th, 2010

The beginning of a fabulous week!!

I was able to run with my friend, Tom. We did a 4.5 miler today in the humidity and the heat. Sure didn't feel to horrible UNTIL we turned around and that sun was beaming down on me. Wow, what scorcher!!

The need to walk did set in for a minute, yet, with Tom there I was able to continue my run. I did slow us down a little bit, for I did not want to run into any problems during that run either. It was still a good time for a hot day.

For today, I believe that I will run indoors and try the treadmill OR I will run a short run outside and than bring it in and do my circuits. I really should try to utilize that wonderful fitness center that is included in my rent. Nice AC and many pieces of equipment to utilize - Really can not just allow it to just sit there.

I am beginning to look at airfare and also the price of the full in Austin in February. Its time to book it!! I am going to look for a half in November, as well. I need to keep my motovation and that deems to work excellent for this gal. Putting forth the cash, seems very motovating to myself.

Eitherway, the exercise/running continues as well as continues to do amazing to my mind, body and soul!!!

Happy Running to you today * IF ya go outside and run, run short and ez and if you can take a partner !!

Livin in SE MN

Running the other day with my buddy Tom, he was giving me some grief about not blogging regularly. Figured I would try to put something out here, yet, I than thought about not continuing OR just putting it up only once in a while ( he he he ).

Eitherway, here we are, living in Byron MN, where the city is full of hills, hills, hills.

Thursday night I was blessed to join a running group, named Team R.E.D. ( http://byronteamred.blogspot.com/). It was a joy to run with people and then follow it up with some much needed fun!! It was neat to be able to meet new people, run with the Woo man and then learn more and more of this group. Next Thursday it will be formal night -- pondering wearing my wedding dress...

This week, in total, I have put in 21.5 miles. Yesterday I was able to run with Tom and he took me through the hills for a 5.5 miler, here and around Byron. It was a good workout!!

I now have a flat route and hilly route to continue my running with. I am looking up for some half marathons in Nov.. I am hoping to find something less expensive, for I will need to start to save up now for Austin, where I will run my first full.

Today is recovery for me and my legs/arms. They are quite sore from the run yesterday, and I believe the closeness of the two runs, thur/fri., got to me. OR it may have the been the mix of the running and the move all in one week, not to sure yet. So today, we will be in recovery and just hang things on the wall.

Have a FABULOUS day everyone and happy running!!

One Year Later

Good day to you !

I can not believe that it has been a year since I blogged about my exercise!! WOW!! and the things I have learned since, have been soo amazing as well as what I have accomplished.

First, I would love to share, my accomplishments:

5K in Kasson MN
5K in Brownsdale MN
Half Marathon in Long Beach Cali in Oct '09 ( 2:14 )
8K in Hayfeild MN
Half Marathon in Seattle WA in June '10 ( 2:00 )

Second, I would also love to share what is to come in 2010:

August I am joining a running group, named "Team Red"
November I am planning on a half marathon ( place undecided )
February, 2011 - I now have planned a full marathon in Austin Tx

Third, I need to share with you the amazing things that I have learned through running -- OK -- I will share with you that I am continuing my running and have picked up a new training program for this next two races, as I am working on my speed. Before I was working on crossing the finish line, now its become more for me. As well working on my speed, I also want to work on continuing the exercise and the healthy lifestyle this has on myself, as well as the influence it has on my children.

There really is a ton of information that I have learned and so many different techniques from running, as I continue to blog, I am hoping that I will be able to share these with you !!

I have also continued my strength training as well. I feel that is necessary for my muscles need to stay strong, especially, if I want to run faster :O)

Eitherway -- I thought I would start blogging, once again, on my exercise to share with everyone and also to keep myself accountable !!

Today is a 5 miler -- I am on a 20 wk program again and I have been told that right now its important to maintain my base. So for these next few weeks it will be maintaining, and that is at/around 20 mi/wk and then my circuit training as well, 3 to 4 days/wk.

Hopefully you will all find it in your hearts to take care of you as well!! It has done amazing things to my body, mind and soul!!

With tons of hugs and love to you all!!!

Lori
