Hello --its been awhile since I have blogged, as I have been off of the exercise regimen and onto the healing process.
After I ran the Mankato Half I was feeling alot of pain in the right knee. After two weeks of no running, it still seemed to bother me after going up and down the steps. It was strongly suggested that I go into to see a sports med doc.. So I followed through and I was diagnosed with ITBS and I was referred to a Physical Therapist.
I have seen the PT for 2 wks now and I was able to jog this past weekend. There was pain while jogging and also afterwards. I seen the PT today and he did more ultra sounding on the IT and also some major digging to get the knots out of it and loosen it. I was also given orthos so that I can correct my heels, as they tip in.
I am hoping to get into running, slowly, and without pain.
This is going to take time.
This week I am able to jog with intervals as well continue my stretches and exercises twice per day with 3 reps of them at these times.
I will go back to the PT on Friday for more digging and also a reval. Than we will take it from there.
The full in Austin TX is up in the air, yet, time will only be able to tell.
Well -- thats the facts...now for the feelings... I have been up and down. AS once I was able to actually move my legs and get going a little bit, my mood changed incredibly.
I will do as told for I want to be able to run again, without pain!
I have realized that I completely enjoy running and all the exercises that I am unable to do at this time, yet, I can continue biking and the appropriate exercises in order to maintain my sanity.
Its all about getting better now.
Push on dear friends, push on!!

Nov. 2nd, 2010
As you can see, I have not blogged since I ran the half in 'Kato.
I have been fighting a bit of IT pain. Actually, alot.
I have been told to rest.
This does NOT sit well with me.
Instead :
Beginning yesterday, I am now back at the exercise regimen.
I was able to put some time in on the bike yesterday as well as on the weights. I will be focusing on the bike this week and the weights. Right now it is a week by week basis. As this IT is very painful at this point and if I continue to run I would injure it and it would continue to be painful, forever, I would assume. Suggestions are where its at .. at this point in my life. Which is OK as I have been here before with different experiences in life.
I am going to continue to work on the cardio and core part of my body. This way, if and when this pain subsides, I will be ready to RUN!!!
There is still plans for the full in Feb in TX.
Time will tell with all of that.
On a side note: realizing that I ran the half, PR'd and finished, on an injury boosts my self confidence much more. As Now I know that my time was AMAZING with this in mind !! YAY!!!
Keep on pushin, my dear readers, keep pushin on!!!

ANOTHER PR :O)
Yesterday I ran another half, in Mankato Mn..
Yesterday I completed another half.
Yesterday I PR'd. ( 1:58:50 )
Yesterday I beat myself up mentally for a few miles where I slowed myself down.
Yesterday I seen others accomplish amazing things ( Crossing the finish line, beating the mental walls that we endure while running, challenge themselves to an amazing accomplishment, created different race times, new friendships, closer ties between already had been friends ).
Yesterday I was tired ( woke up at 3:30 to leave Byron at 4:45 to arrive early in Mankato ).
Yesterday my IT Band flaired up.
Yesterday I met new people ( Even cried while one of them held me up and another endured my cussing while I cramped ).
Yesterday was an absolute ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!!
Today -- I have stretched my IT, exercised it, treated it with some TLC and about to give it some bathing in some ice.
Today -- I ENJOYED my accomplisments that I endured yesterday.
Today -- I celebrated by speaking to my good friend OL on the achievements and also on my new goals. ( Full in FEB!!! and time to look for another half )
Today -- I baked!! ( Pumpkin Bread, Choc Chip Cookies, Rice Krispie Bars and I am on my way to get some more ingredients to bake Pumpkin Pie and Banana Bread )
Today -- I am not as tired as yesterday and I am very GRATEFUL that yesterday was a PR an amazing accomplishment in itself, completing another 13.1 miles!!!
Life is GREAT today and I am a very lucky soul to be able to enjoy the life that I have!!!!!!!
New friends, New races, New way of life !!!
Push on Dear friends while I rest my IT band and make sure I am fully recovered for my next training session :O)
* Lesson Learned coming soon *

Today is Friday !!!!!!
Tomorrow is RACE DAY !!!!!!!!
Last night was a great night with Team R.E.D. I was able to walk briskly with Paul M. and chat about the race and other races we have been involved in :O) It was very refreshing as I had a rough afternoon prior to the group run. So this was just the medicine needed.
We walked around 2.5 miles.
Tomorrow is the RACE !!!! ( oh I said that .. he he he )
I have found out that this week with tapering and resting the legs -- it throws me for a loop ( emotionally/spiritually ). I have trained my body to allow to be preoccupied with vacations and flying out and visiting. This week, I did not have that and it has been very difficult for me. I am learning things during this training for this half :O)
I will do a lesson learned after the race. So in case you wanted to take these with you -- you would be able too.
Today is the day to prep for the race and also plan an outfit and warm/dry items. We have the carpool plan all set and the party afterwards :O)
So its off to do laundry, cleaning and planning.
* Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. ~ Mr. Obama ( its just a quote people, just a quote that I happen to utilize )

Dearest Bleaders --
I have been tapering this week for the race is on SATURDAY :O) We are going to KICK Mankato's ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I just did some biking and also a small circuit to allow some bent energy out !!!
I have been having trouble with the knee area and I actually think it is two things combined. IT Band and also a few other muscles. I did tend to it properly, I believe. I have been rolling as well as stretching and exercising the IT bands.
I was beginning to get a little depressed and not realizing how much taking exercise out of my regular regimen was affecting my attitude, I took a trip to the Running Room to see what they thought of my current purchase, new shoes on line !
Well -- turns out -- they are not supportive enough for the amount of running that I submit to my feet during a week. YET -- I have another pair of shoes that have enough support in them to run the race with :O) I thought I would have to walk outta there with a new pair!! I will be purchasing a new pair after the race.
I did walk out with a compression band for the IT, though. I put it on and instantly my knee felt better and then again today it hurt a little in a different spot. So I read the inserts in the band container and I moved the band and it helped :O)
I am very confident I am going to do amazing at the half in Mankato!!! ( I was debating that for a few days there )
I am realizing that exercise is now a part of me and when that is absent, my attitude and moods go down. This is a good thing in my mind!! Means I have done it long enough now, that it is a part of who I am and what I am about. I will continue the healthy way of living that I have now chosen and create a new friends and also maintain and retain all that I have gained thus far !!!

It was a late night last night for this momma -- so I am blogging today on the run yesterday.
I was able to get in a 7.5 miler!! I met with Marilee and Bri before Team R.E.D and we ran an extra 2 miles together :O) They are both running the full in Mankato :O)
Angie and I than ran the 5.5 miler. I had to stop us, for my IT Band is really flaring up :O( So .. unfortunately, we were a bit behind everyone. YET, we made it !! AND Angie is DOING amazing!!!!!
We had one other incident while running, it was funny, there was a truck with two men in it, pass us and then turn around. I swear it was nothing, but Angie, totally disagreed. Suppose, if I had to really stop running we could have hitched a ride. HA HA HA
Either way, than it was time for Team R.E.D. and it was nice to sit with everyone. WE had a few good laughs and gave some grief to Mr. Melby -- who sooo needed it!!!
I will debate doing some stuff today, for I need to rest this IT Band so that it is strong for the run on the 23rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet, YOU PUSH ON :O)
Have a GREAT FRIDAY!!

I am soo grateful for my friends!!! I was able to put in a few miles tonight -- after a very long week with a child who'se been down and out with pneumonia.
I ran 6 miles tonight, with some strong miles in the middle :O) Working more on miles now than the speed work -- missed some miles the past few weeks. Have to try to get em in this week, if I am able to run the 23rd in Mankato.
Heres the splits:
9:28 - 9:42 - 8:40 - 8:14 - 8:07 - 8:49
Felt damn good too!! I would have been able to hold the last mile for quite awhile, felt it in my body!! It was like I was just going with the wind.
Its a tiring week...already.
Off I go to prepare for some rest.
Push on dear friends, push on!!
