The beginning of a fabulous week!!
I was able to run with my friend, Tom. We did a 4.5 miler today in the humidity and the heat. Sure didn't feel to horrible UNTIL we turned around and that sun was beaming down on me. Wow, what scorcher!!
The need to walk did set in for a minute, yet, with Tom there I was able to continue my run. I did slow us down a little bit, for I did not want to run into any problems during that run either. It was still a good time for a hot day.
For today, I believe that I will run indoors and try the treadmill OR I will run a short run outside and than bring it in and do my circuits. I really should try to utilize that wonderful fitness center that is included in my rent. Nice AC and many pieces of equipment to utilize - Really can not just allow it to just sit there.
I am beginning to look at airfare and also the price of the full in Austin in February. Its time to book it!! I am going to look for a half in November, as well. I need to keep my motovation and that deems to work excellent for this gal. Putting forth the cash, seems very motovating to myself.
Eitherway, the exercise/running continues as well as continues to do amazing to my mind, body and soul!!!
Happy Running to you today * IF ya go outside and run, run short and ez and if you can take a partner !!

Livin in SE MN
Running the other day with my buddy Tom, he was giving me some grief about not blogging regularly. Figured I would try to put something out here, yet, I than thought about not continuing OR just putting it up only once in a while ( he he he ).
Eitherway, here we are, living in Byron MN, where the city is full of hills, hills, hills.
Thursday night I was blessed to join a running group, named Team R.E.D. ( http://byronteamred.blogspot.com/). It was a joy to run with people and then follow it up with some much needed fun!! It was neat to be able to meet new people, run with the Woo man and then learn more and more of this group. Next Thursday it will be formal night -- pondering wearing my wedding dress...
This week, in total, I have put in 21.5 miles. Yesterday I was able to run with Tom and he took me through the hills for a 5.5 miler, here and around Byron. It was a good workout!!
I now have a flat route and hilly route to continue my running with. I am looking up for some half marathons in Nov.. I am hoping to find something less expensive, for I will need to start to save up now for Austin, where I will run my first full.
Today is recovery for me and my legs/arms. They are quite sore from the run yesterday, and I believe the closeness of the two runs, thur/fri., got to me. OR it may have the been the mix of the running and the move all in one week, not to sure yet. So today, we will be in recovery and just hang things on the wall.
Have a FABULOUS day everyone and happy running!!

One Year Later
Good day to you !
I can not believe that it has been a year since I blogged about my exercise!! WOW!! and the things I have learned since, have been soo amazing as well as what I have accomplished.
First, I would love to share, my accomplishments:
5K in Kasson MN
5K in Brownsdale MN
Half Marathon in Long Beach Cali in Oct '09 ( 2:14 )
8K in Hayfeild MN
Half Marathon in Seattle WA in June '10 ( 2:00 )
Second, I would also love to share what is to come in 2010:
August I am joining a running group, named "Team Red"
November I am planning on a half marathon ( place undecided )
February, 2011 - I now have planned a full marathon in Austin Tx
Third, I need to share with you the amazing things that I have learned through running -- OK -- I will share with you that I am continuing my running and have picked up a new training program for this next two races, as I am working on my speed. Before I was working on crossing the finish line, now its become more for me. As well working on my speed, I also want to work on continuing the exercise and the healthy lifestyle this has on myself, as well as the influence it has on my children.
There really is a ton of information that I have learned and so many different techniques from running, as I continue to blog, I am hoping that I will be able to share these with you !!
I have also continued my strength training as well. I feel that is necessary for my muscles need to stay strong, especially, if I want to run faster :O)
Eitherway -- I thought I would start blogging, once again, on my exercise to share with everyone and also to keep myself accountable !!
Today is a 5 miler -- I am on a 20 wk program again and I have been told that right now its important to maintain my base. So for these next few weeks it will be maintaining, and that is at/around 20 mi/wk and then my circuit training as well, 3 to 4 days/wk.
Hopefully you will all find it in your hearts to take care of you as well!! It has done amazing things to my body, mind and soul!!
With tons of hugs and love to you all!!!
Lori

Hello once again -- seems I am only getting on here to blog once per week. Good, Bad or indifferent -- not to sure.
Eitherway, I ran 6 mi on monday ( up and down a few inclines -- this is what my running partner called them -- I disagreed!! ). I am learning new things as I run, which I think at this point is a great thing for me!!
I am also picking up tools, for the mentality part of races -- this is a huge pc of how to keep yourself running as well as keeping your pace.
Here are a few things I am learning:
There you have it -- now on Monday -- I am off to my 7 mi!! Hopefully my running partner will NOT choose a death trail for me !!!
* one other thing -- Ihave lowered my time for my half ( being my first I do not want to let myself down and I do not want to die -- my time is 2.25 )
* I am now dreaming about racing -- HA
* Here is my info for my race/sponser:

Here are a few things I am learning:
- Your feet take a lickin!! -- Taking good care of them is important!! NO COTTON!!!
- Your legs/arms also take a lickin!! -- By maintaining strenth training it is helping me to stay 'fit' and not have injuries OR wear out as fast
- Use something for chapping
- Do not worry or sweat the small stuff ( it comes out anyways -- HA ) -- such as blisters
- Prepare your mind !! -- I am picking up alot of movies an phrases
- Share w/ other runners -- while running or just in general for we all know what it is like out there!!

WOW-- its been 12 days since i have written -- where did that time go??
Well, I will try to stick to this and keep updating. I have been very busy -- not that I have not been exercising because that is NOT the fact.
I ran my long run yesterday -- it ended up being 5.32mi. I was very proud of myself for I walked only a 'lil bit at the turn around!! It felt very good at a very easy slow pace so that I didnt over do it in the heat or the for the training.
I do need to report that I ran a 5K race on sunday. I came in fourth place in my age group -- for the women. I was not happy with my time ( 29.05 ) yet, I am taking from this these lessons learned:
So there you have it!!
Now next week I begin 6 mi.!! I also have a running partner now for my long runs so that I am excited about !!
Wish me luck -- for I have signed up for the race in Cali -- I will be posting links .. like I have said before -- after I modify the websites!!
Happy Training -- Exercising!!
Hugs

- NEVER wear NEW insoles for a race ( I have now been told to NEVER wear ANYTHING NEW for a race )
- Go to the bathroom before the race OR wait to hyderate so much until after the race
- Warm up with slowly running the first/last part of the course ( I felt this helped me due to the fact that I knew when I was coming up on the finish and also what to expect on the path ) I believe this also helped me with my nervousness as well as stretching
- Careful on the energy drinks/help ( to much of this )
- Have someone there to support you before and after the race ( to lean on someone is nice and also to have someone there at the finish line, feels comforting )
So there you have it!!
